Providing a cognitive-behavioral approach to mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults.

Kristin Sims-Cutler, PhD
Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Kristin has been in private practice for over 12 years, and worked as a school psychologist for 16 years.  Kristin has worked with clients from ages 3 to adult, treating a variety of issues such as ADHD, high-functioning autism spectrum disorders, adjustment disorders, OCD, anxiety disorders, and depression disorders.

Kristin specializes in the assessment and treatment of OCD, anxiety disorders, and depression disorders.  She is listed on the International OCD Foundation’s website as a therapist trained in the use of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for treating OCD and related disorders.  Using a CBT approach, Kristin’s focus is on helping clients understand the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and helping clients improve their self-awareness, insight, coping skills, and self-confidence.

An additional aspect of Kristin’s practice is assessment and counseling services for children and adults with learning disabilities.  The treatment of learning disabilities often includes psycho-educational testing to determine the individual’s academic and cognitive strengths and weaknesses.  Kristin has also acted as an educational consultant on matters such as individualized education plans (IEPs), Section 504 Accommodation plans, and working with parents and school teams to improve student outcomes.  Educational consultation services include a positive problem-solving model approach in order to develop positive social-emotional and educational outcomes for the child.
